ExpERIENCE a new way to Everest base camp

Everest base camp and the kongma la

A trek to Everest Base Camp is on many bucket lists and for good reason. It is undeniably one of the most spectacular treks in the world. At HGA we take less travelled routes and go over a high pass, the Kongma La, en route, and visit the unique village of Phortse to ensure an awesome experience. We travel in winter to escape the crowds and get spectacular views. As a remote trek specialist we bring our own ethos of exploration, travelling light and being flexible to this trek. We take more time acclimating than most operators to give you the best chance of attaining and enjoying your time at Base Camp. The trek incorporates spectacular return flights to Lukla, meals and accommodation in lodges along the way, a night’s tented camping beneath the Kongma La, a western guide and experienced local staff.

Tips to staff

In Kathmandu, we normally stay at Mums Home Hotel, a funky and welcoming 3-star hotel close to Thamel. It has big rooms, great showers and beds, good WIFI, a beaut breakfast and very helpful staff. It is home for us and we hope you like it too. Twin-share accommodation is included in your trip price, however, there is a range of rooms from singles to a family apartment that can be arranged at an extra cost.

On the trail in the Everest region, we use lodges that we have been using for years.

We have chosen them because they are warm and friendly, have reliable and tasty food and act sustainably. Your trip price includes a twin share room.

When tenting over the Kongma la we use only the most proven winter and mountaineering tents made in Australia specifically for the purpose. They are 3 person tents which are allocated to two.
